The 39th Edition of the World Wine Meetings was held in Barcelona, Spain at the Majestic Hotel (looks like our Raffles Hotel). This International Wines & Spirits Convention - organised by Adhesion Group - took place over 3 days for selected wine buyers from key buying markets of the world meeting up wine producers. On the first evening in the ballroom, all the exhibitors and buyers introduced themselves and tasted the wines in a friendly atmosphere of a walk-around tasting.
The B2B meeting was organised with Buyers going to Seller's rooms with a 40-minutes interval in a cosy hotel room atmosphere. But many times two sellers appeared during the meeting (as they were sharing the same room). Imagine the amount of wines need to be tasted! The next night a Gala Dinner was organised so that Sellers and Buyers can eat together as well as to pair the wines with the delicious food served.
We arrived in Barcelona a few days earlier and planned to leave a few days later - just for sight seeing. On arrival, the weather was very COLD, amidst the wind and rain - about 8 deg Celcius and the first three days were spent in the Hotel SB Diagonal Zero!
After the event we checked into a different hotel - Petit Palace. Later we met up with two of our spirits suppliers separately - Teichenne SA and Beveland Distillers SA.The weather was extremely good with the sun coming out. We were given a 'warm' welcome. We ate seafood paellas and Chinese food, strolled by the beach, visited the La Rambla market region. Also we visited Beveland's production area and tasted their new products!
There are lots of nice food, people warm and friendly and cheap winter wears!
