Bacardi's founder, Don Facundo Bacardi Masso purchased a small tin-roofed distillery in Santiago de Cuba on February 4, 1862 and revolutionized the spirits world by creating the world's first light-bodied rum. A century and a half later, Bacardi is the largest privately-held spirits company in the world and Don Facundo's quest for excellence and commitment to innovation always remain.
