Fernet is at once bitter, sweet, herbacious and spicy. It's an unappealing dark brown colour, with a hint of green when held up to the light. The aroma is an aggressive melange of spices. Fernet Branca tastes just as sweet, intense, and bitter as its nose promises.

Fernet is flavoured with gentian, saffron, chamomile, bitter orange, and grip of other herbs and spices. Each of these botanicals is macerated separately, blended together, then aged for twelve months in a barrel to marry the flavours. 

Fernet-Branca, a traditional Italian digestivo, is so popular in Argentina that the brand built a second distillery in Buenos Aires to serve Latin America only. (Fernet-Branca sold in the US is all made in Milan.)

A shot of Fernet-Branca is often called the “bartender’s handshake” because of its popularity among professional mixologists.
